Hot springs and winter snow activities in Pucón

Once again we are back to that time of year. The days are drawing in yet the weather is still kind. The skies are often bright blue and dotted with fluffy white clouds like the pages of a kid’s storybook. Morning and evening temperatures are low and find you reaching for a fleece jacket. Open fires are set and blazing to take that chill of the air, yet if you are out in the sun during the early afternoon you may find yourself back down a long-sleeved t-shirt once again.

The skiers among us are eagerly awaiting the opening of the season. Depending on the snow fall the pistes may open on Villarrica volcano as early as the first week in July. We will publish the opening day on our Facebook page!

Around now the agencies in town begin to revise their stock of ski equipment in anticipation of a busy winter season. You can rent full suits, skis, snowboards, as well as buy the day ticket and organize the transport to the base in one go downtown. There is no need to reserve in advance. Just wake up under the snuggly Lake Lodge duvets, check out the weather forecast for the day, enjoy your leisurely homemade breakfast, pull on your outdoor gear and head down into town to get kitted up. Of course though it is a good idea to get up early and get out there before the crowds so that you make the most of the day pass without wasting too much time waiting in line!

Pucón also offers alternative winter activities such as snow shoeing on the flanks of the volcano, husky dog sledding between ancient Aracauria trees, hiking in the national parks to marvel at frozen waterfalls, and family fun sledding toboggan runs at the base of the ski resort itself.

So, that is the activity list for your July vacation to Pucón sorted out! All you need now is to book into the Lake Lodge to guarantee a home from home experience in one of our 2 double rooms or 2 apartments. Meanwhile, while you are waiting for the snow to fall, the hot springs resorts around Pucón are the perfect way to fill your time.. With 19 options registered with Sernatur (National Tourist Board), you are guaranteed a safe and quality experience. From rustic open air pools to fully fledged resorts, you will find something that caters for your tastes and pocket.

The one thing they all have in common is that cleansing, rejuvenating mineral rich water which is guaranteed to relax your muscles. While your sense of touch is pampered by the warm waters themselves, your other senses are pretty much fully occupied too. Your sight with the views of the rich valleys where the hot springs are located; your smell with the damp slightly sulphery aroma proving that the hot water is naturally sourced; and your ears with the sound of the racing river currents which are always alongside the natural hot pools themselves.
